Writing

I think I did well on using my whole body to make actions because I had to be a big lion and then a tiny kitten. I think I need to work on making more facial expressions.

Swimming Backstroke



WALT: backstroke effectively


1. pointed toes, 
straight knees, 
kicking from your bottom, 
fingers together, 
bring your arm up straight and past your ear, 
pinky finger in first. 
Head relaxed in an upward position."

How am I going? I think that I have done really well this term.

What am I doing well?
I can make my pinky land in the water first.
What do I need to work on?
I need to work on swimming straight.

The Learning Pit

This is my learning pit. The teacher said to write down all the feelings that we felt like at different places in the pit. When you are on the left side then you have taken the easy path. When you are in the pit you have taken the hard path, and th right side is how you would feel if you took the hard path.

“Characters”
Purpose: To describe an interesting character so we can tell a story about them at the Marae stay.
WALT: Entertain (character description)
Task:
Think of a character you could write about.
Draw them.  
Introduce your character in an entertaining way.
Describe their looks.  
Describe their personality.

Descriptive vocabulary (words that help to SHOW the reader)
  • use a range of verbs
Language features (phrases that help paint a picture)
  • select one or two similes
  • use onomatopoeia to show sounds
  • select words that start with the same sound (alliteration)
My writing is 2-3 paragraphs (100 - 200 words)

Tetsy



You always know who will win, Tetsy will. He has razor sharp teeth and claws. With one lazy flick of his tail you could be unconscious for a whole week.

Tetsy’s eyes flash bright orange when he fights. His bushy moustache is as strong as titanium steel, while his pointed ears can smash a whole in anything. His deep auburn coat gleams in the sunshine as he prowls around the woods.

Tetsy might be a big and imposing creature on one side, but on others he just wants to protect and defend his forest. He is kind to the environment and only takes as much as he can eat each day.
He catches baby birds that have fallen from their nests, and gently slides them back into their nests when he could have eaten them.
